Birth Life
The 'Captain Cool' of India was born in Ranchi, Bihar, Jharkhand on 7 July 1981. His father Pan Singh worked in a junior management position in Macon. His mother Devaki Devi worked as a housewife. He had a sister Jayanti Gupta and a brother Narendra Singh Dhoni.
Early Life
He studied at DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamlal, Ranchi, Jharkhand. He played football in his school days. But his coach asked him to play as a wicket-keeper in the Cricket. This is the turning point in his life. He also played as a batsman in the cricket. He joined Commando Cricket Club from 1995 to 1998. He focused on cricket after his 10th standard. His father wanted to see his child settle in his life. He became Travelling Ticket Examiner at Kharagpur railway station from 2001 to 2003. But he left the job because he was not interested in this job at all.
Career
He included in Bihar U-19 squad in season 1988-1999 and scored 176 runs in 5 matches (7 innings). He played against Punjab in Cooch Behar Trophy and scored only 84 runs. Yuvraj Singh played from Punjab and scored more than 400 runs. And the result is of course in the favour of Yuvraj Singh. As Dhoni was not selected in the Indian Cricket Team due to his bad performance in Cooch Behar Trophy. So he made his debut in Ranji Trophy in 1999 -2000 from Bihar. He made a half-century in his debut match. In 2002 he became Ticket Collector. As he was interested in cricket and not in these jobs. He was not happy and not satisfied with his apartment and his job. But due to his family pressure, he had to continue this job.
In 2004-2005 he debuts against Bangladesh and getting run out. The starting four one day of his cricket career is not so good. In the 5th one-day he made 148 runs by playing on the third rank in Visakhapatnam. He played against Srilanka and made 183 off 145 balls and for sure India won the match.
But unfortunately, in 2007 ODI world cup, he was very depressed by losing the biggest tournament.
Captain Cool
He was elected as the captain of the Indian squad for the twenty-twenty world cup in September 2007 and India won the match.
The ICC cricket world cup 2011 kicked off in the subcontinent and all the Indians saw Dhoni as favourite played. The confidence was built when the Indian team won from Australia. Because at that time Australia is one of the strongest team. Indian team won semi-final from Pakistan. Now the final started and it was against Srilanka. On that day the team was not in good condition at starting. But Dhoni scored 91 runs not out. And finally, India won the world cup. This was the happiest day for the Indian team and for India.
By winning the 2013 ICC champions trophy. Dhoni became the first and the only captain in international cricket to claim all ICC trophies.
In 2015 Cricket world cup Dhoni became the first Indian captain to win all group stage matches.
He became the third overall and the first non-Australian captain to win 100 ODI matches.
The Legend
In January 2017 he left his captaincy to give the opportunity to the young ones. He became the first wicket-keeper to effect 100 stumpings and surpassed Kumar Sangakkara. In 2018 he passed 10,000 runs in ODI and became the fourth Indian and twelfth overall to do so. In April 2019, he was named in India's squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
Personal life
He married Sakshi Singh Rawat, his schoolmate in DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir. She was studying hotel management and was working as a trainee at Taj Bengal, Kolkata. They planned their wedding. He became a father on 6th February 2015. Her daughter name is Ziva Dhoni. At that time he was playing with the Indian team 2015 Cricket World Cup. He said, "he was on National Duty and the other things can wait."
Major Achievements
National honours
1. In 2018 he was honoured by 'Padma Bhushan' which is India's third-highest civilian award.
2. In 2009, he was honoured by 'Padma Shri' which is India's fourth-highest civilian award.
3. In 2007, he was honoured by 'Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna' which is the highest honour in India give for achievement in sports.
And finally, in the end, he took the retirement on the special occasion i.e 15th August 2020. He served the Nation a lot and nobody forgets him and his achievements.
