Biography of Greta Thunberg.

Greta Thunberg

Early life

The young little superstar was born on 3 January 2003 in Stockholm. She is the daughter of Opera Malena who is a singer and Svante Thunberg who is an actor.
Actually, at a very little age, she started studied climate change and was depressed by all the statistics. She even stops eating and talking. All these things affect her body and were eventually diagnosed with Asperger syndrome (mental disorder), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and selective mutism.
Initially, she started to do school climate strikes, public speeches by which she becomes an internationally recognized activist. She had the support of her family.

Her steps towards the protest to protect the climate

In 2018, she protested outside the parliament house in Stockholm. She distributed pamphlets and wrote slogans on banners. This was her starting stage.

Her break

Later in America, a gunshot occurred in her school. Actually, in America, anyone can carry weapons with himself/herself. There is no rule for carrying weapons. So when the gunshot happened in the school by a little student. There were a lot of strikes and protests to implement a law on carrying guns. This was her break. She thought that if they can protest then she will also do to protect the whole world from climate change. Then her strike regarding climate change spread worldwide.

Spread the movement

She published a collection of her climate action speeches. In May 2019, she donated her earrings to a charity by saying that "No one is too small to make a difference."  In her speeches, she told that no one thinks about the future of the upcoming generation. So we children have to do for ourselves. She points out the Government by saying that all her childhood and dreams were destroyed.
She even stopped to travel from planes. She used to travel only from cycles otherwise by walking. She told me that if the world becomes vegetarian then the problem of climate change is completely solved. Because Beef, red meat, etc. did a lot of carbon emission.
Once upon a time, she traveled from the UK to New York by a very small boat in which solar panels are fixed. She wants to show that this type of technology can stop climatic changes. This trip was announced as carbon neutral. She started her journey on 14 August 2018 and ended on 28 August 2018.
In a speech, she talked about her disorder "Selective mutism." She told in this disorder we talk very less and at the place where is a need to talk. And "now is one of those moments." These words of Greta did not stop the audience from clapping.
She met with the politicians, actors, and all the big personalities and told about her ideas. Now she was not alone. Many school students joined her target.
On 20th August 2018, she decided to not attend school until the 2018 Swedish general election on 9 September. Because this year was declared as the hottest in summer in the last 262 years.

Her demands

Her demand from the Swedish Government was to reduce carbon emission. She protested by sitting outside the Rickdag every day for three weeks during her school hours. According to the Paris agreement if the temperature increased 2-degree Celsius then this process becomes irreversible i.e it can not be a cure. And it reached one and a half degrees Celsius. So there is a need to think about climate change.
She told me that "I am doing this because you adults are sitting on my future."
These temperature changes affect India in a very bad manner. Because in India a lot of areas are covered with the Himalayas. If the temperature increases then all over India are covered with floods.
She even told to the Swedish Government that they had to believe scientists. Because according to reports the condition was worst. She only wants legal action to control the temperature.
She asked the Government that when her grandchildren asked her "what are the majors taken by her to save the climate?" Then what should I reply to them? But it was even not sure that we live or die to see our grandchildren if the condition is not cured.
She met the Secretary of United Nations General Antonio Guterres and he told that "My generation has failed to respond properly to the dramatic challenge of climate change."

Impact

She points out that the strategies used by the Government to reduce the temperature are insufficient. The greenhouse emission curve needs to start declining steeply in 2020.
In the conference in February 2019, she said that the European Union (EU) must reduce their CO2 emission by 80% by 2030, double the 40% goal set in Paris.
On her trip to New York on the carbon-neutral yacht. Emblazoned on the yacht's sail in capital letters were the words "UNITE BEHIND THE SCIENCE."
She stated that "Do not listen to her listen to science."
She inspired several children and was described as the "Greta Thunberg effect."
A lot of investors, inspired by Greta and donated half a million pounds to the climate emergency fund.
The President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Junker announced in February 2019, when Greta shared a stage with him that every fourth euro spend within the European Union budget will go towards action to mitigate climate change.

What can you do to reduce carbon emissions?

1. Grow more and more trees.
2. Use public transport instead of cars.
3. Make as little use of the packaging as possible.
4. Change your diet from non-vegetarian to Vegetarian. If you want to eat non-vegetarian then eat that kind of flesh which did less carbon emission.
From India, 14,000 people participate to support Great from 26 different locations.

Thanks!
